International student applications

We welcome applications at all times from international students. We can offer places to students with good qualifications to enter any of our programmes, and are pleased to accept visiting students, and students entering either through our foundation year, or into the second year of our programmes. Bursaries are available for international students, with £1000 offered for each A-level at grade A (up to a maximum of £3000). For students taking the International Baccalaureate the qualifying grade is HL6 (maximum bursary £3000)

Mature students and part time students

Mature and part time students are valued members of our community. About 10% of our intake are in this category, so you would not feel isolated. Entry standards for students entering through widening access schemes are variable, so a closer look at your profile, and talking to one of our admissions team, might help you to decide on a big step in your education and future career prospects.

University Open Days

The University welcomes people to its Open Days in June and September. The School of Biological Sciences offers talks on degree programmes and a chance to meet and discuss future choices with members of the academic staff. You will also be able to visit many other parts of the campus, including the halls of residence. To book for these days please access the main University web page www.soton.ac.uk .

UCAS Visit Days

Once you have applied to us and been made an offer, we will invite you to one of our UCAS visit days. You will be able to meet members of staff and current undergraduates, as well as hear more details about the courses, ask questions, and have a laboratory tour. Details of visit days are posted here, and again we ask you to book on line for attendance at either a morning or afternoon session.  Please note that due to the capacity of the lecture theatres we have to restrict visitor numbers to the applicant and one guest.
